Naming a longevity startup: the category no one has claimed
Longevity as a commercial category is unusual: it has attracted more than $5B in venture funding since 2020, has produced multiple $1B+ companies, and still has no consensus consumer-facing name. Altos, Retro, NewLimit — these are corporate names, not category names. The consumer brand that captures 'restore', 'rewind', or 'reset' has open space.
What the naming has to solve
- Signal scientific credibility without sounding like a supplement (avoid 'youth', 'anti-aging').
- Convey action and mechanism — reversal, restoration, extension — not vague wellness.
- Bridge B2B (diagnostics, clinics) and D2C (protocols, memberships).
Why category names win big here
In categories where trust is the product (health, finance, security), category-descriptive names generate lower CAC and higher lifetime value than coined names. Longevity is still early enough that an exact category .com sets the standard for the vertical.
